Dashboard

The summary dashboard shows performance and health statistics of all your APIs across your organization on a single page and provides insights into your Service usage.

Manage data ingestion from any Control Plane Dashboard using the Observability toggle. This toggle lets you enable or disable data collection for your API traffic per control plane.

Modes:

  • On: Both basic and advanced analytics data is collected, allowing in-depth insights and reporting.
  • Off: Advanced analytics collection stops, but basic API metrics remain available for API Gateway, and can still be used for custom reports.

Observability includes the ability to build organization-specific views with Custom Dashboards. You can create them from scratch or use existing templates. The functionality is powered by a robust API, and Terraform integration.

Access and permissions

Konnect Observability uses role-based access control to determine what each user can view. Users added to one of the predefined Analytics teams have full access to all Observability and analytics features. Users not in one of these teams can still view analytics data relevant to them based on their other assigned Konnect roles and teams. This applies across permission types in Konnect, including control plane permissions, API permissions, and Portal permissions. For example, a user with access to a specific control plane will see analytics data for that control plane only.

Keep the following in mind when you are determining access and permissions to Observability:

  • Explorer and Debugger are available to all Observability users without extra role assignments. Users only see traffic and metrics for the control planes within their permissions scope.
  • Organization Admins and users in the Analytics Admin or Analytics Viewer prebuilt teams have access to Observability data across the entire organization.
  • Access to Dashboards and Reports requires additional role assignments, such as Dashboard Viewer or Report Viewer.

Frequently asked questions

Dashboards and Reports require additional role assignments beyond the default Observability access. Contact your organization admin to be assigned a role such as Dashboard Viewer or Report Viewer. For a full list of available roles, see Teams and roles.

No. Dashboard access controls which dashboard objects you can view, not the underlying data. You will only see traffic and metrics for the control planes within your existing permissions scope, regardless of dashboard access level.
